Tennis Anyone?

We spent a few hours today watching Laura play tennis at Burns Park. She looks wonderful. She's really working out and has her hair very dark now. It was so great to get to spend a little time with her. We miss her so much. I wanted to share some of the photos from today. Love to you all.

Nine Days and Counting

I cannot wait for school to be out for a couple of months. Every part of me is desperate for some relaxation. We don't have any plans for the summer, but I don't really mind. Rest is my priority right now.
I have a prayer request for Tina's dad. He's in the hospital at Mobile in CCU. Please keep their family in your prayers.
Yesterday we traveled to Hot Springs and spent a couple of hours at Garvan Woodland Gardens. Randy purchased a new camera for me this past week. (I think to keep my mind occupied.) We made a lot of gorgeous pictures of the scenery that I wanted to share with you.
Love to everyone.

Mother's Day 2009

Mother's Day began early for me again this year. Jess came by my office on Thursday and brought me some beautiful orchids. Brad called and we had a nice long visit on the phone. It had been a while since we'd spoken, and it was wonderful to hear from him. Beverly called before she left for Dallas to visit Destinee. I received very touching cards from Laura and Becky on Saturday. Randy bought me a new watch band for my watch that we bought on our 25th anniversary trip in Alaska. We also had dinner on Saturday night with Megan and Jeremy at Chili's. (Meredith had plans already with some of her friends.) It was great to get to visit with both of them. Megan had sent some pink and purple tulips to our house on Saturday, also. Angela, Sharon, Lloyd and Hazel sent me text messages on Sunday. Now, if all of that wasn't enough, our friend, Herminia, and members of her family came by on Sunday afternoon to visit with roses and cake in hand. We enjoyed the cake together and had a short visit before we made a few photos of the group. Later in the day, Necon, Jeni, Lydia and Levi came to see us. They had more roses, a sweet card and some cookies. After we'd all visited a while, Necon and Jeni left the kiddos with us while they ran to Wal-Mart and got some supper for all of us. It was our first time to be alone with the kids. It was such a busy time. We both agreed that it was a precious experience. Thanks to all of you who thought of us and sent your wishes. We love you all!

Bridal Shower in a shower

Yes, it was a wet day on Saturday. But, it didn't dampen any one's enjoyment in watching Jess open many beautiful gifts from her friends. She was lovely, as always. Thanks to the glowing words submitted to me by Hartford, Laura and Jeremy we played a game of Bridal Bingo and got to know each other a little. After refreshments, Jess opened her presents and we visited some more. Bridgette and Courtney insisted on cleaning up afterwards. You made your moms proud, ladies. We missed Laura, of course, and many other friends that Jess invited, but it was a nice day. I'm glad that I was able to share our home with Jess and some of her friends. It was nice to meet Hartford's mom and sister. They drove a long way to be here for Jess. Everything went well and I'm sure the wedding will be the same. (only better!!!)
Love to all,

WOW May is here

I cannot believe that it is already May. This school year has been a blur. I want to think that I can make it through Mother's Day without a scene. Following that special day is the remembrance that my son was murdered on May 31st. Please pray that I can hold it together this month. I've been kind of shaky lately and need a lot of prayer and support to get past this again. I know that all of you are amazed that I'm not handling things much better at this point, but somehow my emotions have taken control again. Two years have almost past and it still feels like yesterday except for the fact that I haven't been able to hold Travis or hear his voice for so long that it is painful. Sorry to be a downer today. Pray Pray Pray, please.
